Who we are

Design 2B is a building design practice that is focused on creating the lifestyle you want to live. No matter how simple or complex your residential or commercial project is, we love the challenge of designing a solution that will not only add value to your property or business but also create a space that is uniquely yours.

Our founder, Brett Burns is an experienced Building Designer as well as qualified carpenter/joiner and has been working in the Building design industry for over 20 years. Having designed, worked on and built numerous projects in his career, Brett is able to inject this practical know how into every job.

We understand that designs may look amazing on paper but may not seamlessly translate into a physical reality. Brett’s experience ensures our plans are not only creative and unique but also functional, sustainable and practical. One of the things our clients love the most about our designs is Brett’s ability to interpret what they’re after – even if they are not clear on it themselves.  Brett will be able to help you to clarify your design needs, guide you through the design process and offer practical advice that will enable you stay within budget.

From a technical point of view, we use the latest drawing technology, Revit. This program produces clear graphic images which help clients to visualise what the project will look like at the end of the process. A vital part of our service is ensuring we are up to speed on the constantly changing building codes and standards and that we have a firm grasp on industry best practices. We work closely with consultants, builders, certifiers and town planners to make sure that all the specific requirements for your project will meet the Building code of Australia so you can rest easy in knowing that your design will comply.

Over the years, Design 2B worked not only on a large number of residential projects, but also provided building design services to many Brisbane businesses and helped with creating a better working environment and sustainable building design solutions in commercial settings.
